Art and design surrounds us. Both influence us in more ways than we’ll ever know – our thinking, our decisions, our mood. Yet, many would argue that art and design are distinct crafts, unique in form and function so we thought we’d take a closer look at both.
Inspiration isn’t a scientific process; it’s seated in personal perspective. And often, it’s found in unexpected places. Bentley’s product designers are a testament to this; the inspirations behind our carpet styles are as diverse – and as interesting – as they are. A cross-country drive provided the vision for New Bohemian. Hidden, forgotten and reinvented places in and around L.A. gave (los)t angeles its grit meets glamour vibe.
This month, Los Angeles will welcome Greenbuild – the world’s largest conference and expo dedicated to green building – to our eco-savvy city. For more than 30 years, Bentley has operated in L.A., manufacturing our carpet to California’s progressive environmental criteria, the country’s strictest standards. It’s a challenge we’ve embraced. It’s shaped our approach to sustainability, embedding eco-thinking and action into not only our design and production processes but also our culture.

To help its clients tap into the positive power of collaboration, the leading California commercial carpet manufacturer partnered with Antron and Banding People Together to compose a CEU-accredited event for 75 designers, held September 27th in L.A. at the Edison.
Millennials are officially the largest generation of the U.S. labor force, and they’re reshaping everything about work – from how it’s defined to where it gets done. The concept of the physical “office” is evolving for sure, but it will never cease to exist, even as flex-time schedules and freelancer gigs become the norm.

Say hello to Libby Cook, Bentley’s Director of Product Development Operations, otherwise known as our Trendcaster. With a textile design education and background, Libby worked for various West Coast interiors and garment fabric companies for a few years before transitioning to the carpet industry in the late 1980s.
